Who we are
Recomp is made by Saif Siddiqui ("we"), the data fiduciary for the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Contact and grievances: saifsiddiqui2409@gmail.com.
What the app stores
- Your profile: age, sex, height, weight, goal, training history, schedule, gym equipment, diet, and your answers to the health questions.
- Your training: workouts, sets, weights, reps, and effort.
- Your habits and body data: daily quests, water, weigh-ins, morning check-ins (how you feel, soreness, pain), and things you ask the coach to remember.
All of this is stored on your iPhone and backed up to your Recomp account (you sign in with Apple when you start). You can export it or delete it all, including the account, from Profile.
Backup and sync (optional)
If you sign in (with Apple or an emailed code), the data above is copied to our database hosted by Supabase in Mumbai, India, so you can restore it on a new phone. Each person can only access their own data; this is enforced by the database itself. Data is encrypted in transit. If you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple ID token and, if you share it, your email or Apple's private relay address.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Recomp reads steps, sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, blood pressure, and body weight, and saves the weights you log. Health data is used only to run the app's features (daily quests, readiness, weight trend). It is never used for advertising and never sold. It is shared only if you turn on smarter coach answers (below), and then only as part of the summary needed to answer your question. Apple Health data itself is not uploaded; your own entries in Recomp (like weigh-ins) are backed up to your account.
The coach
The AI coach runs on Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. It reads your Recomp data on the device to answer you, and only changes your plan when you confirm. The coach is off until you turn it on.
Smarter answers (optional). If you turn this on, each question you ask, the recent messages in the chat, and a short summary of the data the coach uses (your plan, today's quests, workouts, nutrition targets, and steps and sleep if Apple Health is connected) are sent through our server to Anthropic, which runs the Claude model, to write the answer. The same summary is used when the coach writes you a morning briefing, a workout debrief, or a weekly check-in. Anthropic processes it for us under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. We keep a daily count of how many answers you've used, not what you asked. Logging and plan changes still happen on your phone. You can turn it off in Profile at any time.
Blood reports, meals, and menus (optional)
If you ask the coach to read a blood report, a photo of a meal, or a menu, the file goes through our server to Anthropic (Claude) to be read, with your age, sex, height, goal, diet, and today's plan. Neither our server nor Anthropic keeps it, and Anthropic doesn't train on it. The result of a blood report is saved on your iPhone only; it isn't backed up to your account. We keep a daily count of reads, not their content. Results are general guidance, not a diagnosis.
Gym buddies and shared gyms (optional)
Gym buddy. If you pair with a buddy using a code, they can see your first name, how many workouts you've done this week out of your plan, your streak, the last day you trained, and how many rings you closed today. Nothing else: never your weight, measurements, health data, or what you lifted. They can send you a cheer or a nudge. Remove a buddy at any time and they stop seeing it; with no buddies left, it's deleted from our server.
Shared gyms. If you share your gym, its name, city, branch, and equipment list can be found by anyone signed in to Recomp. It never shows who shared it or who uses it, only how many members use it.
Recomp Pro and payments
Recomp Pro is sold through Apple's App Store, and Apple processes every payment. We never see your card, bank, or UPI details.
When you subscribe, Apple gives the app a purchase record: which plan you bought, when it started and renews or ends, and a transaction ID. The app uses it on your iPhone to turn on Pro. It may also send it to our server (Supabase, Mumbai) to confirm your subscription. We keep it only while we need it for that, and it's deleted when you delete your account.
Usage and crash reports
To see which features get used and to fix crashes, the app sends PostHog, our analytics provider, short records such as "opened the app", "started a workout", "opened the sleep page", or "saw the Pro plans", plus crash and hang reports from Apple's MetricKit (the kind of crash and the app version). They carry a random ID made for this install, never your account, name, or email, and no person profile is built from them. They never include health data, workouts' weights or sets, food, weight or body measurements, what you type, or your location. Turn it off in Profile → Your data → Share anonymous usage; the random ID is then deleted.
Progress photos
Progress photos are saved on your iPhone only. They are never uploaded or backed up, and they're deleted when you delete your data or log out.
Air quality and heat (optional)
If you add your city in Profile, or let Recomp use your approximate location (about 10 km; your exact position is never requested, stored, or sent), the city's name and rough position (rounded to about 10 km) are sent to Open-Meteo, a free weather service, to get the air quality and temperature. Your location is used only to name your city, on your iPhone. Nothing about you is sent, and you can turn it off at any time.
Exercise photos
Some exercise photos load from a public image library (jsDelivr) the first time you view them. Only the photo is requested; nothing about you is sent.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no selling of personal data, and no tracking across other apps or websites. Data goes to service providers only to run Recomp: Supabase (backups and subscription checks), PostHog (anonymous usage and crash reports, unless you turn them off), Anthropic (coach answers if you turn on smarter answers, and reports or photos you ask it to read), and Open-Meteo (air quality and weather, if you add your city; it receives only the city).
- No health values in crash reports or diagnostics.
Your rights and choices
- Export: Profile → Export my data saves everything as a file.
- Delete: Profile → Delete all my data removes everything from your phone and, if you're signed in, deletes your account and all your data from our server immediately.
- Correct: edit any of your information in Profile.
- Withdraw consent: disconnect Apple Health in the Health app, turn off the coach in Profile, or sign out to stop backups.
- You can also write to saifsiddiqui2409@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Retention
Backed-up data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it. Subscription records are kept only while needed to confirm your subscription, and deleted with your account. Data on your phone stays until you delete it or the app. Apple keeps its own records of your purchases under its privacy policy.
Children
Recomp is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Not medical advice
Recomp gives general fitness guidance, not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before starting if you have a health condition.
Changes
We'll update this page when anything changes, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
